The ARM CMSIS-RTOS based RTX real-time operating system, optimised for ARM® Cortex®-M processor-devices, is now available in Energy Micro's Simplicity Studio tool suite with additional ultra-low power mode. See more for video.
Software Packs, Peripheral Drivers, and Run-Time Environment
The following video explains the software concept that is used in MDK Version 5. Software components of installed Software Packs are selected in the Run-Time
Environment Window and standardized drivers to device peripherals provide the interface to the MDK-Professional Middleware.
Keil MDK-ARM is the most comprehensive software development environment for Cortex-M processor based microcontrollers. MDK Version 5 is now split into the MDK Core and Software
Packs which makes new device support and middleware updates independent from the toolchain.
The MDK Core contains all development tools including IDE, Compiler, and Debugger. The new Pack Installer adds and updates Software Packs for devices, CMSIS, and middleware.
Device Software Packs contain support for a complete microcontroller family. For MDK Version 5 Beta only some Device Software Packs are available, but we will add support for
more microcontroller devices in the next weeks.
